DENVER—The Colorado Rockies called up right-handed pitcher Alberto Arias from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old Arias appeared in 12 games, all in relief, for the Sky Sox, and had a 3.86 ERA. He was 1-2 with 18 strikeouts and eight walks in 22 1-3 innings.
He last appeared in the big leagues on May 13, 2007, against San Francisco.
The Rockies optioned left-handed pitcher Josh Newman to Colorado Springs. Newman had a 3.86 ERA and had no record in four games for Colorado.
