NAME: Joel Quenneville.

AGE: 49 (Born Sept. 15, 1958 in Windsor, Ontario)

CAREER: Coached the Avalanche for three seasons after being named the fourth head coach in team history on July 7, 2004. Had been the St. Louis Blues head coach from 1997 to 2004 before returning to Denver, where he began his coaching career as an assistant under Avalanche coach Marc Crawford. Led the Avalanche to 44-31-7 record this year and a second-place finish in Northwest Division. Beat Minnesota in six games in the opening round before being swept by Detroit in the Western Conference semifinals.

Compiled a 131-92-23 record in three seasons with the Avalanche and has an overall record of 438-301-100. Has an overall playoff record of 42-45.

Played 13 seasons in the NHL. Finished with 54 goals and 136 assists and 705 penalty minutes in 803 games with five teams: Toronto, Colorado Rockies, New Jersey, Hartford and Washington.

Only third person to coach and play in 800 or more games, joining Bob Pulford and Jacques Lemaire.

PERSONAL: Wife, Elizabeth “Boo”; three children: Dylan; Lily; and Anna.
