Denver stands a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms today and Saturday, but Mother’s Day looks sunny, warm and calm.

Today will be partly cloudy in Denver, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, the National Weather Service reports. The high temperature in Denver should be about 72 degrees, and winds could gust to 24 mph.

Parts of the Eastern Plains could be hit by severe hail today, the weather service said.

In the high country, a cold front this afternoon will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the north and central mountains, mostly north of Interstate 70, the weather service said. Higher elevations in the area could get some snow showers today. The high temperature in Vail should be about 62 degrees.

Tonight, mostly cloudy skies will bring a 30 percent chance of scattered rain to Denver and the low temperature should be about 40 degrees, the weather service said.

The chance of wet weather in Denver should spill over into Saturday morning, and the day will be cooler, under partly cloudy skies, with a high temperature of 56 degrees, the weather service forecasts.

On Sunday, Mother’s Day, Denver will be sunny, calm and warm, with a high temperature near 70 degrees.
