Who cares about a dream presidential ticket when there’s a dream culinary ticket on the horizon? Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and Bobby Stuckey of Boulder’s Frasca restaurant are teaming up — for one night only — with Frank Bonnano, Noel Martin and Ryan Gaudin of Luca D’Italia to prepare and present what promises to be one of the best dinners served in Colorado this year. Tickets are dear, but proceeds go straight to The Children’s Hospital, where both Bonnano’s and Mackinnon-Patterson’s children have been cared for in recent years. Five mind-blowing courses, each paired with deep-cellar wines. Reserve now, as seats will fly. $350 per person, or $600 for patron level. Auction after dinner. June 2. Call 303-832-6600 to reserve a seat.
Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen
Most celebrity cookbooks ,well, let’s just say they rarely make it to the kitchen. Trisha Yearwood’s new tome, however, bucks the trend. The sweet, sultry French coconut pie recipe alone is worth the price of the book, which also includes down-home gems like sweet potato souffle and old-school hush puppies. $29.95 at your local bookstore
Beer and Sweets
Everyone’s favorite gastronomic club for ladies, the Colorado Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, will honor longtime member (and everyone’s favorite food writer) Ellen Sweets with a beer tasting dinner at LoDo’s Wynkoop Brewing Co. on May 28. Cocktails (paired, one hopes, with beer) served at 6:30 p.m., followed by a four-course meal. $40 a ticket; reserve a spot by May 26 by calling the Wynkoop at 303-297-2700.
