A woman driving eastbound on Interstate 70 cut in front of a truck this afternoon, sparking an accident in which the truck hit her and then lost the trailer and backhoe it was hauling, Denver police said.

“The lady in the car cut into the truck’s lane, got hit and spun out,” said Detective Sharon Hahn, spokesperson for the department.

The trailer and the backhoe rolled over, with part of the trailer landing on the woman’s car, said Hahn.

The woman and the driver of the truck escaped injury, although she was ticketed for unlawful lane usage and no proof of insurance, said the detective.

“Luckily, there was not a whole lot of damage to the woman’s car,” said Hahn.

Eastbound I-70 was closed from about 12:40 p.m. to 3 p.m., according to Stacey Stegman, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
