More than 500 people were on hand earlier this month for the 10th annual Interior Design Awards handed out by the Colorado chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. The awards recognized design excellence in commercial, hospitality, health-care, government, educational, retail and residential settings. Some of the noteworthy local talents and projects highlighted in the awards ceremony were the Lakewood High School design by Jean Sebben Associates; the Medical Center of the Rockies facility completed by Gallun Snow Associates and HLM-Herry International; the Qwest Executive Briefing Center by RNL; and the Regency Student Housing complex, pictured here, which was completed by R.M. Ruwart Design and Architectural Workshop. Look for a complete list of winners and project photography in the June/July issue of Colorado Homes & Lifestyles magazine.
Let’s play ball
Because he is so rarely called on for actual appliance repair, Clay Jackson, otherwise known as the new Maytag Repairman, will be in Denver on Monday to throw out the first pitch at the Colorado Rockies game against the San Francisco Giants. Earlier that day, Clayton also will drop off a $10,000 donation from Maytag to the Ronald McDonald House in Denver and award a lucky and deserving volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House with a free laundry unit.
HGTV casting call
HGTV and its Colorado-based production partner High Noon Entertainment have put out a casting call for the new series “Bang for Your Buck.” Billed as a chance to “show off your remodeled kitchen,” the show aims to highlight the way different homeowners spend the same amount of money and reveal what their choices do for a home’s bottom line. Producers are looking for Denver- area kitchens remodeled in the past three years for $30,000 to $75,000, engaging homeowners who are enthusiastic about their new space, and passionate, experienced local contractors, designers and real estate professions with the expertise to critique completed renovations and discuss trends.
