Coloradans in November could be asked to raise sales taxes to fund care for the developmentally disabled if a coalition of advocates gets its proposal on the ballot.
Marijo Rymer , executive director of Arc of Colorado said the proposal calls for raising taxes two-tenths of a cent. Rymer, also chairwoman of the coalition, said the proposal would raise up to $190 million a year.
The initiative is slated to go before the state Initiative and Title Setting Board on Wednesday. If the measure complies with the state’s single-subject rule, organizers could start collecting signatures in a few weeks.
