Two men were arrested in Larimer County last night after witnesses said they fired an air pistol at a vehicle.

Deputies got a call about 7 p.m. that shots were fired at a vehicle on County Road 38E near Horsetooth Reservoir.

The driver said he saw a gun in the car behind him, then his back window was shattered, showering his family with glass shards. No one was injured.

The man gave a description of the suspect car, and nearby bicyclists told deputies a similar story, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

A park ranger spotted the car, and deputies arrested the two men in it. They found “an authentic-looking air powered pistol that fires .177-caliber pellets” in the suspects’ car, the news release said.

Tyson Alexander Shaffer, 29, of Ault was arrested on counts including felony menacing and parole violation.

Aaron Olin Shaffer, 26, of Greeley was arrested on counts including reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.

Both men are being held at the Larimer County Detention Center.
