Warm and mostly dry weather in Colorado is setting up over the next several days along with a pattern of possible afternoon thunderstorms.
Denver’s high temperature today should reach about 84 degrees under partly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service. There will be a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. and winds could gust to 21 mph.
The weather service forecast for Vail today calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of about 78 degrees.
Tonight’s low temperature in Denver should be about 54 degrees and there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight.
Tuesday’s weather in Denver should mirror today’s with high temperatures in the mid 80s under partly cloudy skies and a 10 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Wednesday should be sunny, drier and warmer, with a high temperature of 88 degrees in Denver, the weather service said.
The current unseasonably warm weather could result in a speed-up of spring snow melt in the mountains, the weather service warns. Streams are on the rise in the high country and authorities will be keeping a close eye on the situation, especially later this week as the warm-up continues.
