DETROIT — Jesus has been located.
A church pastor said its stolen 8-foot Jesus statue was recovered in an alley about two blocks away. Patricia Bowers notified the church that she had spotted the statue after seeing news reports Tuesday that it had been stolen from outside Church of the Messiah.
The Rev. Barry Randolph, right, says the only harm to the statue was a broken hand, which he holds. He said thieves may have thought the green-hued, plaster statue contained copper, often sold as scrap.
