PARKER — A discarded cigarette smoldered in a potted plant before bursting into flames on the porch of a home in Parker’s Saddlebrook Farms on Saturday night, according to investigators.
Rob Geislinger, fire marshal for the Parker-South Metro Fire Authority, estimated the damage at $100,000.
He said the fire spread to the deck and then ignited the house.
Two dozen firefighters took less than an hour to put out the fire. The family lost furniture and electronics, but a family cat, pictures and other irreplaceable items were spared.
