An arsonist set wood pallets and trash on fire outside a Broomfield Safeway store last night, triggering an evacuation.

No one was injured in the blaze that was started at about 9:30 p.m. at 3600 W. 144th Ave., said Wendy Forbes, spokeswoman of North Metro Fire Rescue District.

Firefighters put out the fire, which was contained outside the building, within a few minutes, Forbes said. Minimal damage was done to the building.

Detectives are investigating who started the fire, she said.
