So much for the idea of resting Todd Helton to increase his production. He’s started 62 of the team’s 64 games and is continuing to show more power. Helton blasted a three-run home run Tuesday, his first opposite-field shot at Coors Field this season. He’s on a roll, with three home runs in his last 10 games, after having four in his first 54 games.
More pop.
The Rockies optioned outfielder Seth Smith to Triple-A, leaving Ian Stewart and Jeff Baker in line for at-bats in interleague play this weekend. Baker had two hits in his first three at-bats Tuesday.
In relief.
With Aaron Cook providing the bullpen a breather Tuesday, a relief combo of Jorge De La Rosa and Jason Grilli remains the current favorite to face the White Sox on Saturday. Jason Hirsh, rehabbing a shoulder injury in Triple-A, is a longshot.
