ERIE, Colo.—An 11-year-old Thornton girl is dead after a rollover accident on Interstate 25.
The Colorado State Patrol said Celina Lucero died after being ejected from a Ford Expedition she was riding in near Erie on Saturday evening. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
None of the other five people in the Expedition suffered serious injuries.
The patrol said the accident happened when a 2003 Subaru Outback swerved to avoid an object and hit the Expedition.
The Expedition rolled once before stopping on all its wheels on the road’s edge. The Subaru, driven by Matthew Parsons, 22, of Laramie, Wyo., went off the right side of the road.
Neither Parsons nor his passenger were injured.
