Promoter Barry Fey and Inside Boxing have teamed up for “The Future”a Colorado boxing event Saturday at the National Western Stock Show Complex.
Denver native and light welterweight Donald Camarena (18-4) headlines the card, which includes welterweight Marvin Cordova Jr. (19-0) of Rocky Ford and heavyweight Jevon Langford (6-0) of Denver.
Camarena, 26, is scheduled to fight Oscar Leon (27-8) of Colombia. The opponents for Cordova and Lanford weren’t announced Sunday.

“I’ve always had to go fight the top contenders in their own backyards and on their promoters’ cards,” Camarena said in a release. “I hope now they will come to Colorado and fight me here.”
Cordova, who is ranked No. 63 among welterweights, according to , has 11 knockouts in his 19 consecutive professional victories. He has won by decision in his past three bouts, each since January.
Langford, a former defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, is training with Denver’s Aurelio Martinez in Denver. The native of Washington, D.C., has knocked out each of his six opponents but has not fought in four years.
Other fighters on the card include Jose Morales, Larry Gonzales and Ryan Proctor.

UNIVERSITY OF DENVER DANDY
Colborne pegged a future NHL star.
The NHL draft begins Friday in Ottawa, and at least two members of the University of Denver hockey team are hoping to celebrate during first-round selections in the Canadian capital city.
Incoming DU forward Joe Colborne is expected to be among the top 30 picks, which would make him the Pioneers’ first first-rounder since 1984, when defenseman Craig Redmond was taken No. 6 overall by the Los Angeles Kings.
The 6-foot-4 Colborne, Canada’s 2007-08 junior-A player of the year, will be accompanied in Ottawa by DU assistant coach Derek Lalonde. Lalonde said Colborne has interviewed with nearly every team with a first-round selection, and despite being ranked No. 28 overall among North American prospects, Lalonde thinks his prized power forward will be among the top 30 picks when European prospects are factored in.
Colborne, from Calgary, led the Alberta Junior Hockey League in scoring last season, producing 33 goals and 90 points in 55 games.
Incoming DU defenseman David Carle also is expected to be drafted early. Carle, younger brother of former Pioneers star Matt Carle of the San Jose Sharks, is ranked No. 60 among North American prospects.
The NHL teams that select Colborne and Carle will retain their rights through college, or until the team and the player agree on a contract.
