GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The former athletic director at Grand Junction High School has withdrawn his plea of not guilty in an alleged case of attempted Internet luring.
Donald John “Johnnie” Walker resigned from his post after his arrest in April 2007.
In Mesa County District Court on Monday, defense attorney Colleen Scissors asked a judge to withdraw the plea and to set July 14 as a new date for Walker to enter a plea. Scissors said undisclosed issues with her expert witnesses necessitated the moves.
District Judge David Bottger agreed to the requests.
Walker is accused of using the Internet to try to lure someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
The person he allegedly conversed with was actually Jason Steitle of San Antonio, Texas, who was posing as a teenager and who reported Walker to police.
