Getting your player ready...

Now we wait.

We rushed the tomato seeds in under grow lights back in March. Now we wait for the first pale yellow blossoms to emerge out in the garden beds.

We beat sundown to poke the last of the zucchini, acorn and butternut squash seeds into still-cool soil. Now we watch for two tender cotyledons, starter leaves that will soon give way to prickly plants.

The onions have yet to bulb properly. A wave of heat-tolerant spinach is doing its best to crowd out the early spring crop, but it’s not quite there. Yet.

Master gardener apprentice Susan Clotfelter will keep on blogging at . We’ll help with recipes for your bounty on Wednesdays in Food, offer how-to help on Thursdays in Room, and, every now and then, check the gardeners’ progress on Tuesdays in LifeStyle.

It was fun to get growing this season. We can’t wait to hear how things turned out for you. Dana Coffield
