BOULDER — A Boulder man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for stabbing his ex-wife to death.
Alfred Michael Strauss pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors in May.
He had faced up to 32 years in prison for killing 36-year-old Laura Swan last August.
The judge said she wouldn’t impose the maximum sentence because Strauss had expressed remorse and didn’t have a criminal record.
Strauss and Swan had been trying to reconcile but Strauss said he stabbed her after several heated arguments. Their sons, aged 2 and 4 at the time, have been living with their maternal grandparents in Seattle.
