WASHINGTON — The Bureau of Land Management reversed its moratorium on large solar-power projects on government land Wednesday, one day after two Colorado lawmakers sent letters criticizing the stoppage.

The BLM said in its announcement that it will evaluate new solar-plant applications on a case-by-case basis while it conducts an environmental assessment of all such projects. A month ago, the BLM put a moratorium on solar-power projects in several Western states, saying it needed time to study their impact on wildlife, vegetation and water.

U.S. Rep. Mark Udall, D-Colo., and state Rep. Judy Solano, D-Brighton, wrote letters to federal officials Tuesday criticizing the moratorium.
