VAIL, Colo.—A mother bear and two cubs have been captured and moved out of the Beaver Creek area after they entered two houses through open windows or doors.
State Division of Wildlife spokesman Randy Hampton says the bears were trapped Wednesday and taken to an area south of Silt, about 70 miles west.
The bears entered the two homes about a week and a half apart. Officials say they were also spotted on a hiking trail and once blocked a pickup on a road.
If the bears return to Beaver Creek, state law requires they be euthanized as nuisance animals.
They are the first bears to be relocated from the Beaver Creek area this summer.
