Starter Mark Redman toiled in Triple-A ball for nearly two months earlier this season, hoping to break back into the Rockies’ rotation. He did, but he continues to struggle at the big-league level. The left-hander lasted just 3 1/3 innings Sunday night, surrendering five runs on eight hits. It was his second-shortest outing of the season. Redman’s record fell to 2-5, his ERA rose to 7.54.
Summer slump.
Clint Barmes says missing 28 games because of a knee injury didn’t mess up his swing or his timing. “I think I’m still seeing the ball well and my mechanics are good,” Barmes said. The numbers, however, say something has changed. Barmes was hitting .343 with five homers and 20 RBIs in 39 games before going on the DL on May 24. Since returning, he’s hit .190 (11-for-58) with no homers and three RBIs, his averaging dipping to .297.
Mr. Met.
