Music fans, concertgoers and folks who just love the mystique of Red Rocks Amphitheatre can’t own a piece of the rocks, but they can make off with bench seating from the world-famous concert venue.
The city of Denver, which owns the amphitheater, has been auctioning off sections of redwood benching as Red Rocks seating undergoes a face-lift.
Red Rocks fans wanting to own a piece of history can make bids through an online auction. But be warned: The benches are running higher than premium concert tickets.
Bids checked online Wednesday morning were between $185 and $264 for seating sections — and sales tax will be added to purchases.
Proceeds will benefit the Preserve the Rocks Fund.
The auction ends at 5 p.m. Saturday. To bid, go to success-auctions.com. Kieran Nicholson, The Denver Post
