COLORADO SPRINGS — A Colorado Springs police officer was injured Wednesday night when an allegedly drunken driver rammed his cruiser.

Police say the officer was driving his marked police car west on East Platte Avenue at 10:37 p.m. when a Toyota Corolla pulled out of a driveway, crossed three lanes of traffic and hit the cruiser on the front passenger side.

The force of the collision pushed the cruiser across the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes.

The officer was treated at Memorial Hospital Central and released, according to police.

The driver of the Toyota, Stephen Foster, 46, faces charges including DUI.
