“The Four Corners Region: Where Colorado, Utah, Arizona & New Mexico Meet” ($18.95, The Countryman Press) makes it hard not to hop in a car and head straight for the starkly beautiful region this “Great Destination” guidebook covers. Author Sara J. Benson has lived in the Southwest for more than a decade, and she shares her love of pueblos, Route 66, the outdoors and all things Indian throughout. The entries are heavy on things to do and see, but there also are rather elaborate descriptions of lodgings along with some meal andeven better — grocery store and market suggestions. Mostly this would be helpful to have along on an extended road trip through the area, with small maps for regional travel and black- and-white photos that make us want to hit the road right now.
