The last time Denver experienced a long streak of 90-degree temperatures was back in 2000, when 12 days were recorded between July 31 and Aug. 9. The total number of days that temperatures soared over 90 degrees for that year was 61.

Will Denver break that record? Well, we’re on our way, some weather forecasters say.

As of Friday, temperatures over 90 degrees have hit 13 consecutive days in the Denver area, and temperatures are expected to stay above 90 degrees or go higher today, tomorrow and into next week.

“We’ll have more 90 degree weather at least for three or four more days,” said meteorologist Frank Benton with the National Weather Service in Colorado.

Eighteen consecutive days is the record for temperatures that have soared past 90, which has been recorded twice in Colorado history, once in 1874 and the other in 1901.

On Monday, temperatures could break the streak because rain showers and thunderstorms are expected, but temperatures are expected to climb above 90 for the rest of the week, weather forecasters say.
