DOVE VALLEY — Rookie safety Josh Barrett from Arizona State made a name for himself in the Broncos morning practice today and veteran tight end Tony Scheffler paid for it at Dove Valley.
After Scheffler made a nice catch, Barrett, a seventh-round draft pick, immediately punched down on the ball knocking it loose, then taking it out of Scheffler’s hands and returning it 30 yards the other way.
Barrett started 21 games his final two seasons at Arizona State and was honorable mention All-Pac 10 as a junior when he led the Sun Devils in tackles with 82 and interceptions with three. He was selected 220th overall by the Broncos this year.
