TRINIDAD, Colo.—The Colorado Division of Wildlife is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a bear shot in Trinidad.
The 425-pound bear was found dead in a yard in town Monday night.
State wildlife officer Bob Holder says he received a call about a big bear sleeping in a yard. When he arrived, the bear was dead.
Holder says it’s legal to shoot a bear in some circumstances, but not for wandering through someone’s property or digging in their trash.
Anyone with information can call a DOW hotline at 1-877-265-6648 or e-mail game.thief@state.co.us.
