BOULDER, Colo.—NextFoods, formed by the founder of Silk soy milk maker WhiteWave Inc., has raised $16 million from investors including a firm co-founded by Starbucks Corp. CEO Howard Schultz.
Boulder-based NextFoods announced the investment by Seattle-based Maveron LLC and others todday.
NextFoods was formed by WhiteWave Inc. founder Steve Demos and former WhiteWave executive Todd Beckman. Its GoodBelly probiotic fruit drinks have so-called “friendly” bacteria, similar to what lives in the human digestive system.
Maveron was founded by Schultz and Dan Levitan.
Demos says about 75 percent of the $16 million investment came from Maveron.
