ST. PAUL, Minn.—For some workers in downtown St. Paul, the days of the Republican National Convention won’t be business as usual—as several companies are giving employees the option to telecommute, to come in during off hours, or take vacation time.

The convention is expected to bring 45,000 visitors to St. Paul, and thousands more protesters.

The city has said St. Paul will be open for business. But some company executives say they are worried the increased traffic could cut into worker productivity.

But other companies, like Ecolab, aren’t changing their hours. Ecolab says its employees are excited to be downtown during the crowd and media crush.
