DENVER—A tornado warning has been issued for an area east of Denver after a severe thunderstorm was spotted about 25 miles from the city.

No tornado has been reported but the National Weather Service said Monday the storm was capable of producing one.

The warning was issued for parts of two counties on Denver’s eastern edge at about 5 p.m. as the Democratic National Convention was under way in Denver.

At least four tornadoes touched down southeast of Denver on Sunday but no substantial damage was reported.
