DENVER—Vendors selling Barack Obama T-shirts, buttons, hats and posters are doing a brisk business Thursday along downtown Denver’s pedestrian mall.
Delegates and visitors are wandering along the 16th Street Mall as they wait for the evening’s events at the Democratic National Convention.
A few people representing special interest groups are shouting out comments and handing out literature.
The crowds are prompting city officials to halt free shuttle buses at times. Police officers are maintaining their watch from various points along the 16-block mall.
Obama will formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination as the convention concludes tonight at Invesco Field at Mile High.
Some 75-thousand people are expected to attend.
