Colorado Springs pitcher Franklin Morales allowed six runs and five hits in a short start Sunday, and Las Vegas overcame five errors to defeat the visiting Sky Sox 9-6 in a Pacific Coast League game.

Morales (10-5, 5.47 ERA) retired the side in the first inning. But Las Vegas scored three runs in the second inning, helped by Morales’ error on a pickoff attempt.

After giving up a single, a double and a walk in Las Vegas’ four-run third inning, Morales was ejected by the plate umpire.

Sky Sox first baseman Joe Koshansky homered in the ninth, his 31st of the season, and went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

The Sky Sox are 70-72 and out of PCL playoff contention. They end their season today against Las Vegas (74-68), the Triple-A affiliate of the Dodgers.

Buffs cruise in soccer.

Nikki Marshall and Nikki Keller each had a goal and an assist, leading the Colorado women’s soccer team to a 4-1 victory over San Francisco at Prentup Field in Boulder.

“Today was a real confidence builder for us,” Marshall said. “I think the game today is really the start of our season. We got good chances, and scoring four goals really gets us going for the rest of the year.”

CU (2-1-1) led 2-0 at halftime on goals from Keller and Amber Bettenhausen.

The Buffs received second-half tallies from Marshall and Gianna DeSaverio. Kristina Hall scored in the 67th minute for San Francisco (2-1).
