DENVER—The Colorado Rockies recalled five players from the minor leagues on Tuesday and activated reliever Matt Herges from the 15-day disabled list.

The Rockies recalled first baseman Joe Koshansky, catcher Edwin Bellorin, and pitchers Jason Hirsh and Greg Reynolds from Triple-A Colorado Springs. They also called up outfielder Dexter Fowler, who hit .335 with nine homers at Double-A Tulsa before spending most of August competing at the Beijing Olympics with Team USA.

Herges was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 18 with lower back stiffness. He was 3-4 with a 5.09 ERA before the injury.

Koshansky was first called up July 4 and played eight games, hitting .182 with two homers before being optioned back to the Sky Sox on July 21. Bellorin was also recalled on June 15 but did not play in a game before being sent back to Colorado Springs on June 17.

Hirsh started the season on the 60-day DL with a strained right shoulder. He was activated June 12 and sent to Colorado Springs where we was 4-4 with a 5.80 ERA in 17 starts. Reynolds was recalled by the Rockies on May 11 and went 2-6 with a 6.71 ERA in 11 starts before being sent down to Colorado Springs on July 5.

Fowler is considered a possible center fielder of the future for the Rockies. The team’s top outfield prospect hit .335 with nine homers and 20 stolen bases for Tulsa.
