A 48-year-old man has been arrested by Colorado Springs police as a suspect in a homicide.
At about 6:45 p.m. Monday police received a report on an assault in progress near Bijou Street and Cascade Avenue, according to a Colorado Springs Police Department news release.
Police and medical personnel found a man lying on the south side of Bijou Street near Sierra Madre Street. He died shortly after being found.
Based on witnesses accounts, police arrested Matthew Rowland near the scene about 30 minutes after finding the victim.
Rowland is being held on suspicion of first degree murder, police said.
The name of the victim was not released. An autopsy is scheduled this morning.
