Local firefighters are remembering the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by donning their gear and climbing a downtown Denver building.
The Qwest Tower is 55 stories. The participants — 343 of them, the same number of firefighters killed — will climb the building twice. The World Trade Center in New York City was 110 stories tall.
Each firefighter participating wore a photo of a colleague who died responding to the terrorist attack. Some time after today’s event, the firefighter will call the family of the fallen firefighter.
