GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Montana man is dead following an accident at an oil and gas well pad in western Colorado.

The Garfield County coroner says 38-year-old Talliesin Dodd Hayden of Butte, Mont., died of multiple injuries including head trauma suffered at the well.

Hayden was a Halliburton employee providing wireline service at the Laramie Energy well pad late Monday. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis says a 29 foot long, 100-pound tube hit Hayden in the head when a cable broke.

He was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, where he died Tuesday afternoon.

The well is located about five miles southwest of Rifle and 160 miles southwest of Denver.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of the accident.
