Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has added one more day to his Colorado trip at the beginning of next week.
Obama plans two visits Monday in Colorado: one in Grand Junction and one in the Pueblo area. And his campaign just announced that he will hold an event in the Denver area on Tuesday.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the running mate of Obama rival John McCain, is holding a rally at Jefferson County Fairgrounds on Monday.
In Grand Junction, Obama will appear at 11 a.m. at the Cross Orchards Living History Farm, 3073 F Road. No other details are available. The event is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets can be obtained at Obama’s Western Slope regional office at 844 Grand Ave., Grand Junction, beginning noon on Saturday. Tickets are first-come, first-served with a limit of two per person.
The Pueblo event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. Doors open at 2 p.m. Admission is free, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged as space is limited. Respond at or by calling 719-778-9976.
Palin, who has been drawing huge crowds at rallies with McCain, was to appear Monday at an outdoor pancake breakfast at the fairgrounds. However, the McCain campaign said demand for tickets was so great that they moved the event to the Westernaires Arena and will hold a rally to accommodate more people. Her event is open to the public, but a ticket is required. Doors will open at 7 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m.
“Our phones have been ringing off the hook and the line has been out the door and into the street,” said McCain spokesman Tom Kise. “Unfortunately the campaign has no more tickets to give away.”
