Up to 4 inches of snow are expected to fall today in the mountains above 10,000 feet and about an inch of rain fell at the old Stapleton Airport overnight, officials say.

During the early morning hours, chains were required for semis on Loveland Pass.

The storm is expected to last through the day, with patchy fog developing after dark, said Byron Lewis, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.

A half inch of rain fell at Denver International Airport, Lewis said.

Temperatures are expected to rise to the 60s today in the Denver metro area, he said.

The skies will be sunny over the weekend, with temperatures projected to climb to the mid-70s on Saturday, Lewis said.
