Getting your player ready...

Rivers has Denver’s number for now.

“You are way off base regarding San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers. He is a class act who talks a little smack. Have you ever really heard what NFL defensive linemen and linebackers say to a quarterback during a game? Why can’t a QB chatter back? Did you not talk junk growing up? That’s one of the fun parts of the game. Everybody has had something said about their momma during the heat of a football game, no matter the level. Of course, I’m not preaching to a bunch of sour Denver fans like you are. After the spankings the Broncos have been taking from San Diego, maybe the players will use it as motivation to get waxed by 20 instead of 40.”

Izzy, Raleigh, N.C.

Kiz: Rivers has treated the Broncos like Donkeys. He has ridden them hard, dissed them and pulled their tails for fun. The only danger in doing that? Sooner or later, you’re gonna get kicked.

Hey, cut Rivers some slack.

“Is there some edict in the NFL of which I’m ignorant that states all starting quarterbacks must be stoic, subdued and bereft of exuberance? Is it possible what you mistake for trash talking could be youthful exuberance Rivers shows for a sport he has played with competitiveness and passion since his Pop Warner days? Unless you know Rivers personally and can attest he is arrogant, disrespectful and nasty toward his opponents on the field, give it a rest.”

Adam, Salt Lake City

Kiz: If Rivers strutted on the sideline and taunted foes back in his Pop Warner days, his pee-wee coach should have sat his loud mouth on the bench and taught him a lesson about winning with class. Why? For the good of the game and Rivers’ health. Maybe it’s relatively harmless to talk a little junk to a fifth-grader at the bottom of the pile. It’s far dumber to show up an angry 235-pound linebacker in front of 75,000 folks in an NFL stadium.

Who cares about Brady, Pats.

“Who cares about injured Patriots quarterback Tom Brady being out for the season? The bleeding-heart club is out in full force. Brady is grossly overrated, oversexed and couldn’t carry the Pats to a Super Bowl win against the hapless Giants. I stood next to John Elway at the Little Bear in Evergreen during his playing days. He was built to last. Brady has an awful body. So boohoo. Who cares about the cheating Patriots and their quarterback?”

Don, San Francisco

Kiz: Hey, I enjoy tweaking Brady on his cute nose as much as the next insanely jealous guy. To see him seriously hurt on the football field, however, pained me. Not to suggest you sound a tad bitter, my friend, but I have to ask: Did you lose a big bet on the Pats in the Super Bowl? Or did you used to be Gisele Bundchen’s boyfriend?

Hurdle, Apodaca must go.

“I don’t think Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd has any difficult decisions to make. He claims the Rockies are fundamentally unsound in games. The batters impatiently swing at the first pitch, cannot advance runners and have a bad average with men in scoring position. Couple this with abysmal preparation and pitching failures and you have a case for poor instruction and worse leadership. The only decision O’Dowd has to make is when to fire manager Clint Hurdle and pitching coach Bob Apodaca.”

Ralph, Littleton

Kiz: I like Hurdle. But it’s safe to say that one year after going to the World Series, Hurdle is now on the hot seat.
