A vehicle plunged 75 feet down a mountainside in Teller County this morning, injuring a juvenile driver who had to be cut out of the wreckage.

The driver, who was not identified, was flown by helicopter to the Penrose/St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, said Trooper David Hall, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol.

Hall said authorities received a call about the accident at about 5:30 a.m.

Two other juveniles in the vehicle that rolled down an embankment walked away from the crash and were able to summon help, Hall said.

The crash happened in a remote area of Teller County on a non-paved section of Old Stage Road, Hall said, about 14 miles west of where the pavement on the road ends.

Details on the injuries of the three juveniles in the single-vehicle crash were not available.
