Xcel Energy on Wednesday estimated that Colorado customers would see a 12 percent increase in a high-use winter -month bill this heating season compared with last year’s bill.

The company is projecting an increase of 12 percent in typical residential natural-gas bills in December compared with December 2007.

Xcel also said the company’s annual Gas Cost Adjustment filing with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission will increase 11 percent to 48.82 cents per therm in October, up from 43.81 cents per therm this month.
