One person was killed and three others were injured in Boulder County following a collision Friday on Colorado 66 near North 61st Street that happened as a 17-year-old driver was passing another vehicle, authorities say.
Caitlin A. Epple, 18, of Longmont, a passenger in a black Subaru Legacy driven by the teenager, was killed in the 7:52 p.m. accident, said Trooper Gilbert Mares, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
The teen, whose identity has not been released, was in critical condition after he was flown to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, Mares said.
Gregory Sutliff, 44, of Brighton, the driver of a white Ford F-350 pickup pulling a camper trailer, was taken to Longmont United Hospital in serious condition. A passenger in his truck, Mary J. Sutliff, 44, also of Brighton, was taken to the same hospital with moderate injuries, Mares said.
Speeding and driver error are suspected in the crash.
