A car thief stole the private car of a Denver sheriff’s deputy and snagged riot gear and uniforms that were in the back seat and trunk, as well.

There are no weapons or identification in the 1993 white Oldsmobile Cutlass, Colorado license plate number 467PAR, said Wheat Ridge police Lt. Dave Pickett. “The vehicle was stolen during the burglary of a home.”

He added that it is possible the keys were left in the car.

It was stolen sometime between 11 p.m Saturday and 6 a.m. this morning in Wheat Ridge.

The riot gear in the trunk is “what we call a turtle suit — helmet, chest protector, arm and leg protectors,” Pickett said.

The two uniforms were in the back seat. “If anybody sees it, we would appreciate them calling the police.”
