BOULDER, Colo.—Tea maker Celestial Seasonings, known for its packaging and for promoting healthy living, has introduced two new green teas to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

The artists whose work adorn those packages are Colorado breast cancer survivors.

Painter Dagmar Fehlau of Boulder created art for boxes of cranberry pomegranate green tea while work from bead artist Heidi Kummli of Ward adorns boxes of tropical grapefruit green tea.

Kummli, 48, discovered a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2007. What followed was a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, hair loss and then reconstruction.

“It was a learning experience for me,” Kummli said. “I’ve learned it’s important to slow down in life, appreciate every moment you have, to tell people in your life you love them. Fill your body with good things, good food, good tea.”

She declined to say how much she was compensated for her artwork.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation said Celestial Seasonings, a brand of The Hain Celestial Group Inc., is donating a percentage of its sales to the foundation. Celestial Seasonings said it has pledged up to $100,000.

The brand’s sales have been growing but slowly. The Hain Celestial Group Inc. said sales of Celestial Seasonings products in its fiscal year that ended June 30 rose “modestly” to $93.1 million from the previous fiscal year.
