Police have identified two officers who shot an unarmed man in Denver last week.
Detective Joseph Hamel, a 13-year veteran of the force, and Officer Steven Letendre, who has been on the force nine years, wounded 19-year-old Nicholas Loera in an apartment building in the 1300 block of Washington Street near St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral.
Loera, 19, had an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation, according to police.
Loera was shot multiple times at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday. Police said Loera threatened to shoot the officers. Loera was not armed.
The victim’s current condition was not available.
