Two men have been sentenced in an appliance-theft ring that authorities targeted with Operation Freezer Burn.

Julio Cesar Reyes-Ramos was sentenced today in Broomfield District to 12 years in prison; Valentin Aguilar Miramontes was sentenced Sept. 18 to four years in prison, the state attorney general’s office said in a news release.

Officials say the ring hit homes being built across the metro area. They stole new appliances – usually refrigerators, microwaves, and stoves — then sold then at places including the Mile High Flea Market.

The thefts occurred between late 2006 and late 2007 in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver and Douglas counties, the release said.

A state grand jury heard evidence in the case and indicted Reyes-Ramos and Miramontes on Feb. 22.

The grand jury also indicted Norberto Felix-Cruz and his father, Norberto Felix-Villapudua. It is believed both men are hiding in Mexico, the release said.
