American Furniture Warehouse chief executive Jake Jabs is publicly endorsing the contentious right-to-work ballot initiative.
Jabs today launched the first of a series of television commercials in which he explains that the measure is “critical for Colorado,” according to a news release.
Jabs will hold a press conference Tuesday to discuss the recent deal between union leaders and members of the business community to jointly fight the right-to-work measure.
The measure, which will appear on the ballot as Amendment 47, seeks to ban forced union-membership fees in all-union shops as a condition of employment and make it more difficult to organize workplaces.
Although American Furniture has not been listed as a financial contributor to the right-to-work campaign, a source has said the company gave money to help collect signatures to place the measure on the ballot.
A coalition of business, union and civic leaders announced Thursday that they will campaign against Amendment 47 as part of a deal that led to the removal of four labor-backed initiatives from the ballot.
