MIAMI — The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Marie has weakened into a tropical storm far off Mexico’s Pacific coast.
The Miami-based center says Marie has maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. The storm is barely moving northwest, centered 850 miles off the southern tip of Baja California.
Marie was the sixth hurricane of the eastern Pacific season.
A tropical depression off the Mexican resort city of Acapulco was forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm Sunday. It was located about 190 miles south of Acapulco, and was expected to remain well off the coast as it drifts west.
