BEIJING — The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 5.7 earthquake has struck a remote northwestern Chinese region.
The center says Monday’s quake struck just after midnight in the Xinjiang region near China’s border with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
It says the quake was at a depth of 21 miles (35 kilometers).
The official Xinhua News Agency says the quake hit in the country of Wuqia. The report did not mention any damage or injuries.
