VAIL, Colo.—Vail Resorts said it is offering a $50 credit to some skiers to offset fees airlines are charging to check baggage.

Resort spokeswoman Kelly Ladyga said the fees aren’t keeping visitors away, but the promotion is a way of making Vail stand out from the competition.

Skiers have to stay at least four nights to qualify.

Kent Myers, a consultant who helps bring flights to the Vail area, said the baggage fees didn’t appear to deter summertime visitors who checked their golf clubs when they took commercial flights to Vail.
